Children are the hope of the future. There is no future without children. Raising resilient, compassionate, and imaginative children ought to be the highest priority of society.
We can debate how this might be done, but there is no denying that it needs to be done. Religions of all stripes affirm the sacredness of children.
Regardless of orientation, there seems to be an inherent recognition that all children are special, no two children are alike.
Each child possesses a unique set of gifts, talents, challenges, and possibilities. Thus, it is impractical and unwise to ignore these differences as we seek to influence and inspire children to their highest potential.
As a parent, I grant that raising children is no easy task, and at times seems impossible.
So, amid the stresses and frustrations of caring for children, keep in mind that we literally hold the future of this world in our hands.
And remember, what we sow in our children today is what we will reap tomorrow as a society. Our efforts in nurturing children are not in vain. They are sacred.
